COVID-19

We thank parents for being honest and responsible and exercising caution in their decision making with regards to sending children to school if they are unwell.

We know that winter is coming and it is inevitable for children to have a cold. However, we ask all parents to consider the current situation we are in if your child is unwell, before sending them to school.

We ask that you make note of the following guidance, as advised by the Department for Education and Public Health England. This guidance is to help protect our staff, parents and children.

  • If your child has a cold, they can come to school. Please provide tissues to stop the spreading of germs. However, if we see your child is unwell at school and struggling, we will call you and ask you to collect them.
  • If your child has a sore throat they must not come to school. They do not need to be tested but should stay at home until they are better. If symptoms develop, please book a test. Siblings may continue to come to school if they are symptom free and feeling well.
  • If your child has any type of cough they must be tested. The child must not be in school until a negative result from the COVID test has been received and the school has seen the NHS email or text confirming this. Siblings must not come to school either, even if they are symptom-free and feeling well.
  • If your child has sickness or an upset stomach they must not come to school and have 48 hours clear before returning to school. Siblings may continue to come to school if they are symptom-free and feeling well.
  • If your child has a temperature (37.8C and above) they must not come to school and should go for a COVID test. The child must not be in school until a negative result has been received and the school has seen the NHS email or text confirming this. Siblings must not come to school either, even if they are symptom-free and feeling well.
  • If your child has a loss of taste or smell they must not come to school and should go for a COVID test. The child must not be in school until a negative result has been received and the school has seen the NHS email or text confirming this. Siblings must not come to school either, even if they are symptom-free and feeling well.
  • If anyone in your family has tested positive for Coronavirus, then the whole family must isolate for 14 days.

If you, or a family member has a COVID test, then you need to let Miss Caplan know this and also what the outcome of the test is. No child who has had a test, or their siblings, should return to school until Miss Caplan has responded to you to say that it is ok to do so.

We are continually monitoring what we have in place at school and we thank you for working with us. You may have already heard that some schools have had to close class bubbles due to children in the class testing positive for COVID-19. At North West, we are doing all we can to avoid this and we ask that parents also help support us in this by:

  • At the start of the day, drop your child off on-time for school. Do not hang around the playground any longer than necessary
  • We cannot enforce the wearing of masks. However, for your own safety, and in order to keep the school as Covid-19 secure as possible, we kindly ask that you wear a mask when walking your child into school and when collecting from the playground in the afternoon
  • At the end of the day, arriving at the time of collection and not before
  • Keeping your distance from staff members
  • Ensuring you adhere to social distancing
  • Keeping younger siblings with you at all times when you collect them at the end of the day
  • Not allowing the children to play with other children outside of their year group
  • Not using any of the playground equipment

We all have a responsibility to keep everyone safe and well and we thank you for working with us.
